Minecraft Magic

We are learning about communities and we created a mock up using big pieces of paper and bringing it all together.

Then we got to team up and go on the Minecraft Education Edition. We enjoyed using minecraft and once we work out a few bugs you might be able to look on our edublogs to explore our worlds.

Social Justice

WALT: understand the concept of what is fair and what is equal.

TOday we had a scenario where everyone was injured. The injuries were varied and included broken bones, cuts, coughs and other medical problems.
First we discussed our injuries and considered what we thought were worse.
We were then able to visit Dr Nick for medical support.
He gave us each a band aid as this was fair, we all got the same thing.
We then discussed if this was fair. The children with cuts felt their treatment was ok but the child with a broken back needed a lot more and a bandaid was not necessary.
We talked about resources going to the need.
The class was engaged with the task and it created lots of discussion.

What interesting role plays have you done at school?

Home Again

 Distance Learning

WALT: work form home

August saw the emergence of the Covid Delta variant and the country was plunged into Lockdown once again.

No problem for the Team Tahi learners who are diligent students and had access to their learning through devices.

We hit the ground running with Meets and shared documents to communicate on.

Our learning was put up on the class site and the blog posts started to flow.

If you would like to check out some of the children's work you can access their blogs here
Please be respectful if you are commenting and remember the PTH (Positive, thoughtful and helpful) comment guidelines.

Golden Visitor

During the Olympics we paid particular care to the progress of Emma Twigg the New Zealand single sculler who had experienced frustrating results at the last few Olympics, coming 4th twice and missing the podium by split seconds.

She was connected to us by a student who is her nephew. Because of this we had an in and we made up questions and watched each race with nervous energy.

The final was raced during winter sports and we were spread far and wide but when she crossed the line first the roar could be heard across the school.

Here is Emma and the class.

Here is Emma and a big fan!
